Logistics and Safety for Blanket Bog Restoration

Successful restoration depends on careful planning, safe working, and respect for fragile ground. Materials such as timber, stone, geotextiles, and coir rolls sourced in advance, stored close to the site and kept dry until needed. When work began, they were carefully transported to minimise surface damage. Staff received safety briefings and were issued suitable footwear, gloves, high-visibility vests, and hard hats. Hazards were identified and marked and lone working restricted to monitoring tasks. Clear emergency plans ensured that everyone knew how to get in and out safely. Good planning of logistics protected both the team and the bog, giving restoration the best chance to succeed.
